Success Stories - Past Adoptions

Every shelter wants its adoptees to be happy, healthy, and loved.  Below are some of our best success stories, given to us from adoptive parents to show how well our kitties have integrated into their adoptive homes!

Chance with Sophie (Left)  Chance with Lily (Right)

I promised to keep in touch about the white blind kitten we adopted from you. We decided to name him Chance since he got a second chance at life. Chance is doing WONDERFULLY!!! He is truly loved by his human family as well as (most) of his furry family. His best friend is Lily, she is a 4 lb. Toy Pomeranian we rescued from a puppy mill. They are together all the time and play (sometimes I think too roughly) everyday. They are the best of friends!!!! If they are not playing, they are sleeping together.
If you saw him in action you would never know he is blind. He has free run of the house and moves around with ease. He still does bump into walls from to time…but it is usually when he playing with Lily and running around. He seems to lose his sense of exactly where he is.

Chance is a MAJOR CUDDLE BUG. Every night when we sit down he is right there on your lap, unless he is playing with Lily. He purrs all the time. Most of the time he sleeps in my daughter’s bed. He has never had an accident or missed the litter box. Chance is a little instigator. When he senses another cat around he will pounce on them….again you could not tell he is blind. Honestly I think the other cats could take or leave him at times because of his “surprise” attacks.

Chance completely amazed us on one summer afternoon. He was sitting in front of our sliding glass door and a fly was buzzing around the door. His head was going around & around and it looked as if he could see it. All of a sudden he clapped his two paws together and CAUGHT THE FLY & ATE IT!!!! We laughed hysterically. We are pretty sure he can see light because he prefers to sit on his cat bed right in front of the window or in front of a sliding door.

We do notice when anyone comes over he gets stressed out at strange voices. What I do is leave him in our bedroom with the others cats, food & his litter box and that seems to help. Just wanted to send you a quick note and let you know how our little baby boy is doing. He has grown quite a bit & is almost the same size as our 2 year old. Our vet said he doing very well too.
Thanks,

Cynthia
Zell is so sweet. Matthew made a little bed with a blanket on the end of his bed and Zell went right over and laid down. Matthew was thrilled that Zell wanted to sleep with him.

I just peeked in and they are both sound asleep!

Thanks again! Wendy S.

I wanted to send you an update of Alexandria, who is awesome! I can't say thank you enough to you and your helpers at Kitten Angels for helping me out last week. Little Miss Alexandria is a perfect fit at my Mom's house. She loves sitting under the Christmas tree, and is quick to jump out for some petting when someone sits down. She also had a great time batting around the wrapping paper when we opened gifts. She certainly loves the attention and is a great cuddler too.

Again, thank you so much for all your help and maybe we can reconnect soon for another adoption. The cats you have are all so wonderful!
Sincerely,
Chelsea

Just wanted to thank you again for letting us take Tinkerella into our home. She has made us all so happy. She is full of energy and just so fun to watch, she is loving and sweet. Sierra is truly her new mom. Tinkerella follows her around. Tinkerella IS TRULY the best Christmas present we could have wished for. I hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas.

Thanks Again, Brooke H.

Hi Donna, Judie and Mara:
Spitfire (now Gwendolyn Spitfire S.) and her new siblings, Leo and Isis, LOVE each other! She spent the first three days in our guest room with quick introductions with Gwendolyn in her carrier. Only minor hissing! By Friday night, all three were sleeping on our bed with us. Getting a third was definitely the right decision and Gwenny is the right third. Her personality is a great fit with Isis and Leo. All 5 of us are very happy. Thank you all so much for finding her, fostering her, posting her on the web and arranging our meeting. I can't believe it was only a week ago that we adopted her... she's definitely a full-fledged member of our family already! I'll keep you updated on her.

Thank you!!!!!! Love, Karen & Ralph S.

Leo sez, "my new sister's bed sure is comfy!" Isis sez, "my new sister's carrier sure is comfy!" Gwendolyn sez, "my new daddy sure is comfy!"

Hi Judie,

I brought my son to the store in Delmar about 2 months ago, and we adopted 2 gray kittens who were brothers. I wanted to touch base with you and let you know that I am in love with my new boys, I couldn't have asked for nicer cats! I took them to the vet, mostly to establish both as new clients, and the vet said they were in perfect health. He also mentioned that they had been well cared for, that your group had socialized them well, and had met all of their needs as a rescue/foster group. So, thank you for all you do!

They are still very hard to tell apart sometimes, with a little white on one being the only obvious difference. Otherwise, they are virtually identical. I named my boys "A.J." and "Mojo," with Mojo having the white spot on his chest. "Mojo" means strength and some use it as a word for good luck. I chose "A.J." as a dedication to an amazing police dog I know (I have worked closely with his human-partner over the past couple of years), because they both seem to have the same intelligence and energy levels.

Both boys are very very bonded as they were when I adopted them. They are fun and very active, spend lots of time wrestling, chasing each other around the apartment, and playing with toys. Individual personalities are definitely coming out, and they still love to be held or sit in my lap, with A.J. wanting to be in my lap and Mojo wanting to sit next to me. We are quite a cozy family! From the first or second day here with me, I learned that Mojo is a "tail-sucker." It seems very similar to a child sucking his thumb, and for Mojo it seems like just a Mojo-thing, nothing to worry about. I'm very glad I adopted both because they are very bonded, and they keep each other company while I am at work.

They are both so much bigger now! When they reach full growth I think they will be big, but long and lean. And they are starting to lose that kitten-look. Mojo is now slightly larger and darker in color than A.J., but they are still very hard to tell apart sometimes. Mojo's soppy wet tail tip is often the only way I can tell them apart. I remember their sister, another gray kitten, but with more white....I hope she found a good home.

All my best,

Ann C.

Judie-Kitten Angels,

It was truly worth my 3 hour drive to find you in Delmar, NY. We live in Norfolk, MA. We love our two little boys (Coach & Louie) that we adopted from you. They are very gently and lovable.

Thank you for being so kind hearted and your dedication saving unwanted cats & kittens.

Juanita, Tina & Sean

P.S. Coach & Louie thank you too for finding us.

I am not sure if you remember Bailee (Maggie). I adopted her at the Petpalooza at Curtis Lumber last year. At the time she had just had kittens and was about 10 months old. She was thin and ate everything in sight. She is truly a beautiful and loving cat. She wants to be wherever I am. She fits right in with the rest of my "kids".

I had wanted to give the Kitten Angels group a quick message to thank them for giving us the opportunity to adopt these two wonderful girls. Its been three weeks I believe and they have both adjusted to their new home wonderfully.

They stretch out on my lap which has become a favorite pastime in the afternoons. In fact, they are on me right now. They have been great together, they play with each other and run all over the house. We have never seen any negative nasty behavior between them.

We have renamed Striper and Mittens. Striper we now call Cocoa (we actually thought this was her name originally and we liked it) and Mittens we named Clementine. She in particular warrants being called an amazing cat, despite her need to be our alarm clock and lick our faces each morning at 7. "Feed me, its time now" :)

Anyways, a status was overdue. I thought you should know they have found a wonderful home. Thank you for all that you do!

My daughter and I came in a year and a half ago to adopt a kitten. I fell in love with a long-haired orange kitty but she came as a package deal. Her short-hair sister and she were very close and did everything together, so we took them both. Their names were Poly and Dactyl since they are both double pawed, not just on their front paws, but their back paws as well.

We renamed them Polly Pawket and Kaitlynn Marie. Kaitlynn was very shy at first and stuck to Polly's side like they were joined at the hip. As time has gone by, Kaitlynn has become her own person and no longer needs to be with her sister constantly.

They are the most lovable little girls and I am very happy with my choice.

Seven months ago my fiance passed away very suddenly and I had to find a new place to live. During the interview at a senior citizen center, my daughter asked about pets and was told there was a no pets policy. I burst into tears and my daughter's eyes filled with tears too. The manager asked me if they were strictly indoor cats and I told her yes. Her next remark was, "Patty, you've lost enough. Keep them." They have been a life saver for me. They can sense my moods and are right with me whenever I'm sad or lonely. Polly even sat on my lap wiping my tears away one day.

Thank you, Judie, for giving such joy to my life.

Sincerely,  Patti C.

Hi Judie and Mara,

Aaron and I just wanted to thank you for placing Rocky and Sebastian (now named Omar and Edgar) with us. They are just about the sweetest kitties around and we absolutely love them! They were a little shy at first, but they seem to be acclimating well to their new surroundings and now follow us around wherever we go. We are so glad that we adopted both boys - they are both so adorable and they have so much fun playing and grooming each other. Well, we thought we'd forward along the email that we sent to their foster family so you could hear how they've been doing. Thank you again!

Meghan & Aaron D.

Dear Sharon, Jeff and Family,

We've now had Rocky and Sebastian for about 3 days and we're totally smitten. Thank you for raising such wonderful kitties! They are so happy and playful and so much fun! We've re-named them Omar (Rocky) and Edgar (Sebastian) and they are just about the sweetest cats around!

They were so quiet on the drive home. When we got there, we unzipped their carrying cases; Omar got our right away and found himself a nice place to curl up. We had to coax Edgar out, and then he promptly curled up in the bookcase. They were a little scared their first night so we left them alone (as much as we could stand it) to get comfortable with their surroundings. When we went to sleep, they were both hiding under the bed, only poking their heads out for a quick scratch behind the ears before they disappeared again. At 3 am I awoke to a tickle on my face, only to open my eyes to find Edgar pressing his nose against mine, checking me out. They both spent a few hours testing their limits and jumping on and off the bed before they settled down and slept by our feet. The next day they started to get more comfortable with us. They ventured downstairs to the living room to check us out and explore, though they were still a little skittish. Now they are much more comfortable and freely run up and down the stairs on their own. Yesterday they even followed me into the shower and both boys sat on the edge of the tub between the plastic shower curtain on the inside and the decorative curtain on the outside, happy as clams.

You were right - it’s so easy to tell them apart, even without the differences in their coloring. Edgar is the daredevil, rushing ahead of us, climbing everything he can and jumping without a stitch of fear. He was the first to jump on the railings by the stairs and once he figured out he could climb the straight part, he immediately tried to climb the slanted railings going down the stairs. It was so funny! Edgar also has the cutest little chirps that he makes and he loves to cuddle up and get petted. In fact, I had to stop writing this at least 5 times when he crawled up on my chest to get some attention. Omar is more aloof and though he likes to be in the same room as us, he seems to always sit a few feet away. He won’t jump or climb until he sees Edgar do it first and he doesn’t jump with the grace that Edgar does - the thud when he lands is much louder since he's got a few pounds on Edgar. He's been pushing Edgar out of the way to chow down on their food. We had to feed Edgar a little by hand to make sure he got enough! But Omar is so pretty and when we pet him he purrs so much and he is just so curious. Each day they seem to be getting more comfortable with us and their surroundings and we are having so much fun with them!

Thank you for being so good to them - you can tell by how quickly they've taken to us that that they've always been such happy kitties because they've always had a safe and happy home. We promise to take good care of them and we've attached a few photos so you can see how they are doing. I hope their brother is doing well. We'd love to see any photos you have from when they were younger and if you're interested, we'll send updates every so often.

Take care and Rocky and Sebastian send their love!

Meghan & Aaron D.

Hey Judie,

Just a quick email to let you know Chewey is doing great! She is such a lovable kitty!  She is really getting used to her surroundings. She is very comfortable and has found many favorite spots to nap.

As you can see she is making herself at home on our couch, but loves the closet, and dresser drawers as well! We've also noticed she loves watching whatever we're cooking in the microwave:)

Chewey playing with "Da Bird" which she loves!

Thank you and hope all is well.

Judie and all Kitten Angels wonderful people!

We are so happy with Ezri (used to be Dolly)! She has been with us now a little over a month and has settled in like she has always been here. She is gaining weight perfectly and growing every day. She plays with her brother (our dog Charley); it's very sweet how they play together.  Ezri loves to snuggle with us, she will come up and purr, lick my nose and settle down and take a nap on my lap.

We love her very much. She is absolutely Purrr-fect!

Hope you all are doing well,

Adrienne, Todd, and Ezri F.

Hi everyone!
Sean and I wanted to let you know how great Tesla is doing in his new home! You knew him as "Butterscotch," but he is so staticky that we had to rename him after the famous scientist who studied static electricity, Nikolai Tesla! He has gained a little weight (maybe 2 pounds) so you can't feel his ribs anymore. He eats Science Diet, and right after breakfast he "buries" his leftovers to save for later!

Tesla's favorite game is "Mouse"!! He has about 7 little mousies and every day he puts them all under the fridge! Then, we go get them for him because we are very well trained. Tesla also really likes to wrestle. When we get home, he runs in front of us, which is hilarious because he slips and slides on the wood floor, then he immediately flops down on the carpet in the bedroom and shows us his white belly. When anyone rubs his belly, he wraps his whole body around the person's hand and just holds on! He is very good about not using his claws. Tesla also likes to go spelunking under the covers...he really likes his humans to be awake when he is!

When Tesla isn't running around like a maniac, he is the biggest cuddle-bug you've ever seen! His purr is incredibly loud, and he loves to come up and lay on our tummies when we are watching a movie. He is so silly because he likes to sleep during the day and then tear around the apartment at night. Tesla might get to make some new friends soon! Everyone who lives in the apartment building has a cat, so we're thinking about hosting a "block party" to get to know our neighbors and let the kitties mingle! Tesla likes to go outside of the apartment door and sniff around for a bit, before he comes back inside and flops down on his favorite chair.
One of the pictures we included is of him "helping" with the laundry. Tesla likes to find piles of clean clothes and lay on them.

This picture is of Tesla doing science. He likes to sit on Sean's lap while Sean is reading scientific papers for grad school.

The final picture is of Tesla being crazy in his "kitty condo". There is a ball attached to the top that has catnip in it...Tesla goes wild!

Thank you so much for the wonderful adoption experience. We are so happy with our kitty, and he is pretty happy with us as well. :)

Love,
Sean, Courtney, and Tesla
