Wheels for Whiskers: 380 Miles for Cats in Need

Buffalo to Albany. 380 miles. One very big reason.

From September 26 to October 3, Lisa pedaled the Erie Canal Trail from Buffalo to Albany for Wheels for Whiskers, a ride to raise funds for the cats and kittens of Kitten Angels. It was a grueling journey, and she's the first to say so.

"As hard as it was to ride this far - 380 miles in 6 days, suffering and finding myself in pain at the end of each day, that's not even close to how much pain and suffering feral and stray cats endure living and fending for themselves outdoors."

Along the canal, Lisa saw foxes, owls, and Blue Herons. But a few days in, she also saw way too many feral cats and kittens in the brush and along the path. Exhausted and sore, she says those sightings reinforced her purpose: keep pedaling, and raise the funds to help rescue more cats in our area.

Why We Do What We Do

What Lisa saw on the trail is what we see every day. Stray and feral cats face harsh weather, hunger, injury, and illness, and kittens born outdoors face even longer odds. Kitten Angels rescues cats and kittens, cares for them, and finds them loving homes. We work alongside dedicated spay/neuter organizations, rescues, and foster families to reduce suffering in our community, one cat at a time.

15 Years of Angels

This year, Kitten Angels celebrates 15 years of rescue. That's fifteen years of late-night feedings, vet visits, foster homes, and adoption days, of volunteers who showed up and supporters who believed these animals were worth the effort. Lisa's ride is that same spirit on two wheels.

How You Can Help

Donate. Every gift helps fund food, vaccines, medical care, and spay/neuter for cats in our care. Help us celebrate 15 years by making this our strongest year yet: Donate here

Volunteer. We always need hands: fosters, transporters, event helpers, and cuddlers. If you have time to give, there's a place for you.

Spread the word. Share Lisa's story. Someone in your circle may be the next volunteer, foster, or adopter.

Every cat Lisa saw on the Erie Canal Trail is a cat we want to reach. Foster homes turn frightened kittens into family. Volunteers make it possible to say yes to more cats in need. Donations make it possible to say yes at all. Fifteen years in, we're not slowing down. Will you ride with us?
